Large ultrasonic plastic welding tool with U slots

The paper introduces a method of making large circular plastic welding tool by manufacturing U slots in large circular cylinders.The tool design guidelines are demonstrated by using commercial finite element analysis software when taking the resonant frequency and the amplitude uniformity on tool output surface as an optimization index.Computed results are verified by experiments.Excellent correlation between analytical and experimental data is found.
