EPASNet: Design and implementation of a test platform for underwater acoustic sensing network

  • With the increasing demand for Marine information acquisition, transmission and processing, underwater acoustic sensor networks are of great significance in the fields of Marine resource development, environmental monitoring, and underwater unmanned platforms, and have been widely valued by the industry. However, due to the complex and changeable Marine environment, the organization and implementation of underwater acoustic network experiment is relatively complicated. At present, most of the underwater acoustic network protocol performance evaluation stays in the simulation stage, and there is still a lack of general experimental technical means that can conveniently carry out the research of underwater acoustic network technical schemes in the real Marine environment. In this paper, an Experimental platform for acoustic sensor network (EPASNet) is designed and implemented. The test platform is composed of network node, cross-media node, monitoring console module, corresponding networking protocol and performance analysis and evaluation system. By collecting test data of physical layer and network upper layer of underwater acoustic network and analyzing Marine environmental parameters, the platform has the functions of quantitative evaluation of network performance indicators such as sensor node stability and network efficiency, and correlation of Marine environmental impact. At the same time, the flexible configuration and operation experiment of underwater acoustic network can be carried out under the framework of modular design. The experimental results of pool and sea test show the effectiveness of EPASNet test platform to evaluate and analyze network technology schemes, and provide a convenient experimental technical means for underwater acoustic sensor network research and scheme design.
