Research on Subjective Evaluation System for Low-Frequency Road Noise of Extended-Range Electric Vehicles Basedon Riding Experience

  • When the traditional 10-point road noise evaluation method is used to assess low-frequency road noise in extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), inconsistencies arise between the evaluation indicators and occupants’ subjective driving perceptions. It is common for objective indicators to meet regulatory thresholds while the actual driving experience remains unsatisfactory. Taking an EREV as the research object, this study investigates the road noise transfer characteristics under pure electric driving mode and identifies key user-perceived complaints. Based on these findings, the conventional road noise evaluation method is refined, and a weighted subjective evaluation system comprising seven core perceptual dimensions is established. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is employed to determine the relative weights of these dimensions. Pearson correlation analysis is conducted to identify objective, quantitative road noise indicators, and a segmented frequency-band objective indicator system—aligned with each subjective dimension—is constructed. Comparative vehicle tests conducted on typical road surfaces and at common driving speeds verify that the proposed evaluation system accurately characterizes low-frequency road noise features and effectively identifies road noise defects. Subjective and objective evaluation results show high consistency. This research provides credible engineering support for road noise performance assessment, fault diagnosis, and performance optimization of similar extended-range electric vehicles.
