Optimal Selection of Active Sonar Signals Based on the CRITIC Weighting Method

  • To address the selection of active sonar signals in complex marine environments, this paper proposes a signal optimization method based on the CRITIC (Criteria Importance Through Inter-Criteria Correlation) weighting method. First, from both signal and environmental perspectives, evaluation criteria such as range resolution, velocity resolution, detection range, and positive signal surplus ratio are established. This framework enables an in-depth analysis of how combined signal parameters (frequency, pulse width, bandwidth) influence active sonar detection performance. Subsequently, the CRITIC method is employed to objectively assign weights and construct a signal optimization cost function, facilitating the selection of the optimal combined signal within specific environments and available signal sets. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted to comparatively evaluate the performance of candidate active sonar signals. Simulation results demonstrate that signals optimized via the CRITIC weighting method exhibit superior performance compared to other candidates, validating the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
